Daly Co. was created as a vessel for imagination — where ideas take shape through material, meaning, and process. Rooted in a deep respect for wood, craft, regional materials, and technology, we approach each project as a blank canvas, transforming raw ideas into works that reflect the people and places they belong to, and the purpose they serve.
We carry a legacy of craft, principles, and tradition — alongside a modern sensibility for design, technology, and contemporary application. We aim to build work that speaks to its surroundings, honours its materials, and lives at the intersection of function and beauty.
Whether developing a product line or designing a bespoke installation, Daly Co. exists to create work that brings joy and meaning into the world — built to resonate beyond its material form and endure through time.
At Daly Co., every project begins with listening — not just to ideas, but to the deeper intentions and aspirations behind them. We work closely with clients, collaborators, and communities to uncover the core of each project, translating imagination into clear, achievable design outcomes.
Our process moves fluidly between concept development, prototyping, and fabrication — shaped by material knowledge, regional insight, and hands-on experimentation. Whether building a single object or developing a complex system, we approach each project with care, curiosity, and a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
We believe in the power of process — and in the relationships that shape it. Every project is the result of a shared journey: one that begins with imagination, takes form at making, and leaves behind something thoughtful, grounded, and built to last.
Our goal is to help clients realize work that not only fulfills their vision, but goes beyond expectation — creating something enduring, and deeply aligned with their intent.
Patrick Christie, the founder of Daly Co., is an industrial designer, craftsman, and artist who created the studio in honour of his mother and grandfather — Janet and Bob Daly.
Drawing from over a decade of hands-on experience with wood-based design, Patrick’s practice is rooted in a deep curiosity about materials and regionality, a respect for craftsmanship, and an ongoing exploration at the intersection of tradition and technology.
After graduating from Emily Carr University, Patrick founded Daly Co. to bring design to the intersection of regional materials, craft, and emerging technologies. Inspired by the diversity of local woods in British Columbia, he developed a practice focused on enhancing the value and potential of regional resources and understanding the role design can play in shaping systems, crafting narratives, and affecting positive change.
In addition to leading Daly Co., Patrick is the organizer of TWIG (The Wood Innovation Group) — a growing network that connects designers, craftspeople, researchers, and industry leaders across BC’s forest and wood sectors. Through TWIG, he fosters collaboration, strengthens regional ecosystems, and champions innovation rooted in place, material, and cultural continuity.
Alongside his design practice, Patrick is also an active artist, researcher, and facilitator. His work explores the creative potential of waste and off-cuts, transforming remnants into expressive pieces using simple tools and colourful gestures. With support from the Canada Council for the Arts, he is researching the acoustic and vibrational properties of wood — creating sculptural instruments and spatial installations that reveal the resonant nature of these living materials.
At his core, Patrick is driven by legacy — not as something to leave behind, but as something to carry forward. His work is rooted in care, shaped by principle, and guided by a desire to honour the teachings, values, and traditions passed down to him by mentors, elders, and those no longer with us.
Every idea starts somewhere — a moment of inspiration, a sketch in the margins, a vision waiting to take shape.
At Daly Co., we welcome collaborations of all shapes and sizes — from early-stage concepts to developed projects seeking fabrication expertise.
Whether you have a spark of an idea or a detailed plan, we’re here to help bring your vision into reality.
If you’re interested in working together, we’d love to hear from you.
