Over the course of two years, Daly Co. worked closely with Circle Wellness founder Paul Hennessy to design and detail custom features for the company’s new location and expansion to Granville Island.
The project comprises six identical personal spa “Circuits,” each built into repurposed shipping containers. These immersive spaces offer a multi-sensory wellness experience centred on hot, cold, light, sound, and greenery.
Daly Co.’s focus was on developing several key features, including a custom Red Cedar bathtub, an integrated drain system, and interior elements for the spa “Pod.” These included a ceiling-mounted lighting fixture and a corner assembly that distributed sound and fresh air throughout the space.
A prototype of the tub was developed in partnership with UBC CAWP through TWIG. The goal was to create a commercial-grade wooden tub that could be disassembled for maintenance and refurbishment while still integrating a custom drain compatible with certified plumbing systems.
Working from the existing architectural specifications, we further developed these elements for fabrication by other contractors or for on-site construction during installation. A key principle in our approach was designing for repairability and longevity, ensuring that each component could be taken apart easily for maintenance, upgrades, or future adaptation.
Daly Co. was on site, installing some of these custom details, along with other wood-based features, at the Circle Wellness location.

"Daly and Circle Wellness's work together goes back over a decade, from custom milling wood for the first WellPod exterior, designing and producing experimental sensory events, to designing & prototyping cedar soaking tubs, and light portals - one thing comes through crystal clear every time: Patrick is brilliant and committed to executing the best version of the project humanly possible. His creativity and technical knowledge allow for a smooth and secure process along the way."
