Circle Wellness Granville Island
Over two years, Daly Co. worked closely with Circle Wellness founder Paul Hennessy to design and detail features that would be installed at the new location and exciting expansion to Granville Island. The project is composed of 6 identical personal spa “Circuits” built into reused shipping containers, featuring a multi-sensory experience of hot, cold, light, sound and greenery. Our focus of this project was on the Red cedar Bathtub along with a custom drain, and details in the Pod, which included a ceiling lighting feature and a corner assembly that functioned as speakers and distributed fresh air into the space. A prototype for the tub was made in partnership with UBC Cawp through TWIG, as we wanted to make a commercial-grade wood tub that could be disassembled to be refurbished with a custom drain that would integrate into certified plumbing systems. Working from existing architectural specs, we further detailed these features so they could be made by other contractors or fabricated on-site during installation. Guiding principles on this project were around repairability and refurbishment, so things could be easily taken apart to address fixes, upgrades or changes that needed to be made to the
