Bass Coast Festival invited Daly Co. to design and build supporting elements for a new performance space — the Cabin Stage.
This was Bass Coast's first new stage design in several years. Founders Liz and Andrea developed the concept, which was inspired by the many good times they shared in a humble A-frame ski cabin nestled in the BC mountains.
We were tasked with designing and building the Front of House structure (which housed the A/V teams responsible for sound and lighting) and two audience dance platforms positioned on the perimeter of the dance floor.
These elements drew inspiration from iconic mountain cabin features — a hot tub, fireplace, and front porch — and were constructed on-site using salvaged materials from deconstructed stage builds from past festivals.
Working with a team of volunteers, we completed the build in one week. The installation is designed to be disassembled and reinstalled annually. In its second year, we revisited the project to refine and expand the concept, giving the stage a freshened visual identity while retaining its core inspiration.
