Daly Co. was brought in through a local connection to support the realization of the Galleria at MET Printing’s new head office in Vancouver.
The architectural concept — including the cabinetry and spatial layout — had already been developed. Daly Co. was tasked with refining the detailing and fabricating the final installation in a way that would seamlessly integrate into the space, which was already clad in aged old-growth Douglas Fir.
Because new old-growth material wasn’t available, we sourced younger-growth fir with a wider grain profile and developed a custom process of texturing and finishing to match the tone and patina of the existing walls. The result allowed the new installation to visually harmonize with the surrounding architecture, despite the generational difference in material.
The design was engineered to be installed piece by piece, with components mounted to the floor and walls, then tightened to bring everything square and plumb. The final installation forms the entry experience to MET’s office — housing samples, awards, and touchstones from the company’s long-standing history of excellence in the print industry.
