Daly Co. was invited by i.O.N Clothing to collaborate on the concept and store features for their new Granville Island location.
Known for their natural clothing lines, i.O.N asked that the materials used in the space reflect the same values found in their products — sustainable, natural, and regionally inspired. They also brought in components salvaged from a previous retail location, which we were tasked with integrating into the new design.
The centrepiece of the space was the cashier’s desk, designed to fit seamlessly into the store’s natural aesthetic. We worked with local manufacturer CoreLam to produce a custom-faced corrugated plywood used on the front of the welcome desk, and a hemp-faced variation for the change room doors.
The space also featured locally sourced Hemlock from the 312 Project, Red Cedar posts, and elements made from PaperStone, tying together the tactile quality of regional wood species with durable, eco-conscious surfaces.
The goal was to create a space that felt immersive and grounded — like walking through a coastal rainforest in the Pacific Northwest.
