TWIG - Shape Booth
Daly Co. founder Patrick Christie has an ongoing consulting relationship with The Wood Innovation Group (TWIG) as an organizer and design consultant. TWIG launched the Shape program in 2022 as a wood-product accelerator program to take people from raw material to finished product over seven months. The conclusion of this program was an exhibition at Vancouver's IDS show, where participants would showcase their work and contribute to the design of a booth. Daly Co. led the design of this booth, working with people from within the TWIG network to source materials that could be re-used to create an engaging presentation at the design show. Walls are essential features at tradeshows, to create backdrops to hang work and distinguish yourselves from other booths. The traditional way of creating walls would require us to purchase virgin material, assemble and finish, only to be taken down days later. Given that we wanted to make a statement, we sourced large sections of CLT previously used for engineering testing that could be used as building blocks for our wall. These panels provided the structure, the aesthetics and the statement we wanted to make for our booth. Although they were extremely heavy, it was worth it and our team came together to lift them and fasten them in place creating an impactful backdrop for TWIG’s first public exhibition. Daly Co. also crafted numerous other exhibition features in the booth and created the graphic design that would accompany them.
