Daly Co. founder Patrick Christie maintains an ongoing consulting relationship with The Wood Innovation Group (TWIG), serving as both organizer and design consultant. In 2022, TWIG launched the Shape program — a wood product accelerator that supports participants from raw material through to finished product over the course of seven months.
The program culminated in a group exhibition at IDS Vancouver, where participants showcased their work and collaborated on the design of the booth itself. Daly Co. led the design and fabrication of the booth, working with members of the TWIG network to source materials and develop a structure that reflected the values of reuse, material intelligence, and regional connection.
Walls are essential features in trade show booths — used to define space, hang work, and distinguish the installation from others. But typical booth walls require virgin materials, custom fabrication, and a short life span. In response, we sourced large sections of cross-laminated timber (CLT) that had previously been used for engineering stress testing. These panels served as structural elements, visual statement pieces, and a nod to the industrial process behind wood innovation.
Though heavy and difficult to handle, the panels were worth the effort — creating a powerful presence on the show floor. Our team worked together to lift and fasten them into place, building an exhibition environment that felt both grounded and intentional.
In addition to the structural elements, Daly Co. also designed and built custom display components and developed the graphic design system used throughout the booth — helping to present the Shape program and its participants in a cohesive, engaging way.
